J. Austin Logan III (Married To Classmate Bonnie Allen) VIEW PROFILE

John Austin Logan III, 53, Topeka, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at his home. He was born April 29, 1951, in Topeka, to John Austin Logan II and Mona Logan Magee. After high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. After being discharged, he worked as a bricklayer for 20 years. He then attended Washburn university School of Nursing and graduated first in his class in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Logan; his mother, Mona Logan Magee; a son, John Austin Logan IV; daughters, Jodie Logan Arteaga and Jessica Mayhew; a stepson, Stephan Marquez; stepdaughters, Jamie Bonet and Danielle Marquez; a brother, Pierce Logan; sisters, Christy Logan McDonald and Holly Logan; and six grandchildren. Mr. Logan will lie in state after 2 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Austin Logan Grandchildren's Fund and sent in care of Capitol Federal Savings, 700 Kansas, Topeka, 66603. Austin and I started as classmates in Kindergarten at State Street Elementary School. I knew his wife Bonnie from Holliday Junior High. Austin was a good friend. I was very saddened to hear of his passing. RIP my friend.
