Carolyn was born on November 2nd, 1950 and passed away on April 22nd, 2025 at the age of 74.
Carolyn Kearse passed away April 22, 2025 in Topeka, Kansas. Carolyn was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to strength, love, faith and resilience. She was the cherished daughter of Opal and George Arthur Kearse.
Carolyn’s legacy lives on through her three devoted sons. Jamal (Sara) Kearse, Jamel (Paula) Jackson, and Akeem (Maria) Kearse; and her two beloved granddaughters, Janae Marie Opal Kearse and Opal Grace Kearse, who brought her immense joy. Among her siblings, she is survived by Duane P. Kearse and George A. Kearse. She was preceded in passing by Albert Thomas, Glenda Thomas, and Latricia Kearse.
Carolyn was a talented athlete who graduated from Topeka High, where she shone on the tennis court, achieving third place in the state competition 2 years in a row. Her determination and spirit were evident in every chapter of her life. After leaving her hometown, Carolyn ventured to Compton, California, before finding her home in Denver, Colorado. Carolyn was a skilled medical biller and coder and worked for respected organizations like Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Eventually retiring from Farmers Insurance.
Seven years ago, Carolyn returned to her roots in Topeka, where she embraced a new role as a foster grandparent at Kansas Neurological Institute, offering kindness and guidance to those in need. This role brought her joy and a sense of giving back that she truly enjoyed.
Her circle of friends was a testament to her warm, caring and outgoing nature. Linda Watkins and Debbie Holleman were among those who had the privilege of sharing her journey.
