October 2, 1950 - November 20, 2022

John Wesley Wilkerson was a child of God as well as a devoted and loving father, grandfather,
brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He was born October 2,1950 to Dorothy and William
R. Wilkerson in Topeka, KS.

He is survived by two daughters: Alexis J. Wilkerson of Topeka, KS and Alicia Wilkerson; two
grandchildren: Corleon Grant and Esmeralda Matchie both of Topeka, KS; one brother: William
R. Wilkerson of Topeka, KS; one sister: Beatrice Evans of Phoenix, AZ; one sister-in-law:
Sondra Wilkerson of Topeka, KS; five nieces: Apalla Johnson of Omaha, NE; Jean Strachan of
Florissant, MO, Erin Wilkerson of Topeka, KS, Adrienne Fleming of Raleigh, NC, and Melany
Smith of Topeka, KS; 2 nephews: William H. Johnson Jr. of Omaha, NE and Robert W. Johnson
of Chicago, IL; 2 nephews-in-law: Nathan Strachan of Florissant, MO and Nathan Fleming of
Raleigh, NC; 4 great nieces: Diamond and Emerald Johnson, Terienne Wilkerson, and Sarai
Smith; 4 great nephews: Ari, Khari, & Trey Jenkins, and Tristin Johnson; great great nieces &
nephews; 2 aunts: Ruth Green and Frances Lee of Topeka, KS; 1 uncle: Gerald W. Lee of
Omaha, NE; numerous cousins; his dear lifelong friend Preston Williams and a host of other
relatives and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his mother Dorothy E. Mansker, father Robert Mansker, sister
Beverly A. Johnson, brother-in-law Larry Evans, 3 aunts and 6 uncles.

John accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Second Baptist Church in Topeka, KS
where he was a lifelong member. He was educated in the Topeka public school system attending
Quinton Heights Elementary School, Crane Junior High School, and graduating from Topeka
High School. He attended El Dorado Junior College and did a year at Washburn University
before he was drafted into the United States Army.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged in
March 1973.

He retired from the Youth Center At Topeka in Topeka, KS after working there for
approximately 30 years.

John loved music and football. He was fun-loving, jovial and positively touched those he
encountered. The love and kindness in his heart was demonstrated in the way he loved his
children, grandchildren, family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives
he touched.
