Currently working on the documentary "The Heart & Soul of Kansas Sports, Founder of Action Images Photography, Inc., a not-for-profit photography educational business in 2016. Publisher of "Tribute to Crimson & the Blue," a 256-page collector edition coffee table book. Inaugural member of the Kansas Press Association's Photojournalism Hall of Fame, Inducted into the THS Athletics Hall of Honor, Three Cheers Award, in 2025. Washburn University Alumni Fellow for the College of Arts & Science in 2013. Inducted into the Shawnee County Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019 for coverage of the Kansas City Royals from 1976 - 1996. Worked for 27 years as a newspaper photographer at the Topeka Capital-Journal and Arizona Republic 1969 - 1996. Worked 23 years as the staff photographer for KU Athletics. Freelance photographer for Sports Illustrated, Time, National Geographic, ESPN, Athlon, & Track & Field News.

It was so sad to read of Leslie's passing. It breaks my heart that she was taken from her family and friends by Alzheimer's Disease, which extinguished a bright light from our time at Topeka High.

Some of my best memories of Topeka High come from long talks with Sonny as we drove in my Volkswagen together from Chandler Field to his home and throughout our years at Topeka High. I will always cherish Sonny and am saddened right now. The Lord's blessings to his family. Sonny lives now with his Savior.
