Our 55-Year Reunion
is in the books!
A wonderful day from start to finish! The “Big Picnic” was a fine get-together at Lake Shawnee’s Reynolds Lodge Saturday, September 21st with over 100 in attendance, delicious food, an impromptu jam session, and lots of catching up with classmates. It even ended a bit early and abruptly with a sudden rainstorm -- just like our graduation ceremony at Moore Bowl!
A big Thank You to the Planning Group members for their work on developing, organizing, and making the reunion happen -- from grateful fellow classmates!
- Ron Balsters – facility setup
- David Blakely -- communication with classmates
- Don Booth – communication with classmates
- Ruth Burgat Akins – worked on production of name tags, registration assistance
- Dennis Elliott – provided items for the memorabilia table and arranged the display
- Linda Evans Canady – communication with classmates
- Rick Friedstrom – communication with THS Historical Society, facility setup assistance
- Stan Hazlett – communication with classmates
- Dan Hejtmanek – Treasurer, handles all the money!
- Andrea Holt (“adopted” classmate) – has participated in the planning of multiple reunions in various capacities, created our beautiful decoupage donation box
- Lynn Holt – provided sound tracks and speaker system for our background music and announcements
- Robin Hoover -- facility setup, tambourine, general support
- Susan Kendall – registration assistance
- Mark Neis – reserved the facility and provided and served fantastic food with his crew, including his wife Jill Michaux, Michelle Neis, Halle Shermoen, Chris Shermoen, Fritz Helbert, and Susan Helbert. Kudos to the Neis family and their catering!
- Jenith Paris Hoover – website management, communications and general ringmaster
- Gayle Reichman Stine – received all RSVPs via email, produced spreadsheet of attendees; helped with facility setup and decor
- Martha Spees Gray – in charge of facility setup and decorating, production of name tags
- Dale Warren – led a small group tour of old Gage Elementary School, now Topeka Civic Theater, Saturday morning
Special thanks to Steve Dyer, who along with “adopted” classmate Tom Marten, coordinated our “Joyful Jam” session with musically talented classmates including Bill Beasley, Mike Branaman, and Jenith and Robin Hoover.
AND to Susan “Susie” Lewis Corwin, who traveled the farthest to attend… all the way from Portugal!

HELP US FIND OUR "MISSING" CLASSMATES! While we have a pretty good handle on most of our classmates' whereabouts and contact information, a number of them are still "missing" -- we do not have a valid mailing address (or phone number, or email) for them in our records. You may be able to help! Please click on the "Missing Classmates" link on the left menu (3rd link from the top) and look over those names. If you are in touch with any of these classmates, or know their current mailing address, phone number, or email, please contact Jenith Paris Hoover, 785-230-3135, robnjeni51@gmail.com or Mark Neis, 785-354-1471, mark.neis@neismichaux.com.
